A film festival just for the family

Andrea Piersanti
Artistic Director, Fiuggi Family Festival (Italy)

Our goal is to give back to the family
the role they deserve as a cinematographic public. Major companies are always studying and observing this public but no one had thought of a film festival. Our intention is to bring back the family to the red carpet.

The event organizers chose films with a good family message like Ice Age,  Les Enfants de Timpelbach and Flash of Genius, as well as several documentaries dealing with the challenges that teenagers and families face.

We’ve selected the films with the smart family in mind, a family that doesn’t hide its head in the sand. We’ve chosen light entertainment films, classis cartoons and documentaries that talk about important topics like the reality of teenagers worldwide.

Among the ten films competing for best family film of 2009 is "The Student" from  Mexico, "Carlitos and the Chance of a Lifetime" from Spain, and "As We Forgive" from the United States.

This will be second time this festival is held. This first one was in 2008 and it gathered nearly 10,000 people.
