Around 223,000 people from around the world, especially those from Asia and Oceania, participated in the event.
For five days participants attended Mass, catechesis in various languages given by bishops from around the world, prayer meetings, vigils, concerts and plays.
The highlights of the event began with the Via Crucis, which was represented through the streets of Sydney and along the shores of the harbor.
A day later, the participants got together with the pope at the Randwick racecourse where they celebrated a prayer vigil and Mass.
To commemorate this World Youth Day, Sydney has organized concerts, conferences and a congress to promote Evangelization.
A good way to prepare for the next World Youth Day in Madrid in 2011.
