“It was a mission because, at the present time, Europe needs to rediscover the joy and hope that come from following the Lord Jesus.”
He went on to thank the Czech president and other civil and ecclesiastical leaders he met while on his trip.
“I was glad to have the opportunity to meet leaders of other Christian communities and to encourage them in the task of ecumenical dialogue.”
The pope’s trip to the Czech Republic is the thirteenth of his papacy. His next will be to Malta in April of 2010.
