Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

“It’s worth seeing them together and comparing the Virgin of Retalbo  of the Palafrieneri, that is normally here because it was bought by the cardinal of Villa Borghese, and the Virgin of the Pilgrims, that is normall at the Church of St. Augustine in Rome.”

Caravaggio’s “Denial of St. Peter,” normally housed in New York’s Metropolitan museum, will also be on display, as well as “The portrait of Antonio Martelli,” whose home is at the Pitti Palace in Florence.

Caravaggio died at the young age of 38. His genius allowed him to recreate some of the most captivating moments of the Gospel on canvas.

“Through his art, Caravaggio shows us a revolutionary style of painting by capturing the moments he’s trying to depict. He revolutionized the way of painting the spoken word.”

Along with Caravaggio’s art pieces by Francis Bacon will also be on display to commemorate his 100th birthday. These pieces are housed in London’s Tate Gallery and Norway’s Modern Art Museum. Two very different ways of capturing the same human emotions evoked by art.
