“After the financial crisis in which we spend so much money we should not forget the poverty in the world and the diseases which exist and I think is more responsible to fight this poverty and these diseases”.

Titled "The justice of God has been manifested through faith in Jesus Christ", the message recalled that justice does not mean to render to every person his due. Instead, Benedict XVI said the root of injustice, is egoism which drives one to put him or herself above and against others.

He added, in order to achieve justice it’s necessary to leave the illusion of self-sufficiency and be open to the needs of others.

“Politicians have to work to the goal that we have understanding as these one world and we should not live anybody alone in his misery and we should take action on the international level, on the level of the European union.”

According to the pope, the only way humanity can reach justice, is by ones experience to feel loved and liberated gratuitously by God.

Benedict XVI says this happens especially in the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist and so Christians feel impulsed to contribute to the formation of just societies where everyone has what they need to live in dignity.
