Legionaries of Christ no longer consider Maciel a model

2010-03-26

With the motive of the annual reunion with the leaders of the movement, they asked for forgiveness from all of the victims and offered them spiritual and pastoral help.

At the same time they expressed their hurt for the suffering of all of those affected and for the scandal Maciel’s behavior has brought upon the Church. They also promised if more guilty people show up, they will judge them according to the principles of ‘charity and justice’.

Furthermore they promised to follow the recommendations of Benedict XVI in light of the recent apostolic visit to the Order.

Since the reunion, the Legionaries of Christ now see a future of ‘hope’ because their lives and messages are only based on Christ.
