Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

The bishops of Switzerland ask those guilty of sexual abuse to come forward

2010-04-01

The bishops say they will enforce all the measures to prevent sexual abuse cases and carry out all punishments as stated in documents they approved in 2002 and revised in 2009.

A commission of experts is scheduled to study the cases from a psychological, social and legal point of view. The first step is to separate the offenders from children and notify the authorities.

The bishops recognize they didn’t take the matter seriously enough and ask for forgiveness for the errors committed by those who implicated their dioceses and religious orders. For that reason they say they feel “mortified” and “consternated.”

They also agreed to collaborate among the dioceses in Switzerland and at an international level.
