Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. As a result, Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin has sent a message of condolences to the victims of the disaster on behalf of Pope Francis.

Pope reminds priests of the importance of spiritual direction

“His lessons were not abstract, based only on books.  They were born from life experience of the mercy of God and the knowledge of the spirit that he acquired through many hours in the confessional and in spiritual direction.”

The Pope emphasized that this priest dedicated his life to teaching others and set an example of holiness.

The pope also directed a special greeting to  archbishops who received palliums Tuesday and to the people who accompanied them.
