“His lessons were not abstract, based only on books. They were born from life experience of the mercy of God and the knowledge of the spirit that he acquired through many hours in the confessional and in spiritual direction.”
The Pope emphasized that this priest dedicated his life to teaching others and set an example of holiness.
“His secret was simple: be a man of God and do your best on a daily basis for the glory of God and for the well-being of other souls.”
The pope also directed a special greeting to archbishops who received palliums Tuesday and to the people who accompanied them.
