Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Children Visit the Pope in Castel Gandolfo

2010-09-24

Unlike other visitors, they welcomed the Pope with a song.

Nun
On the walls of our classrooms is his picture, smiling and attentive, and every morning we pray for "him."

Benedict XVI
"Welcome to the Palace, to the house of the Pope."

The Pope had a few improvised words for the children. He recalled that when he was their age he learned to read, and that allowed him some years later to read a book written by God: the Bible.

Then he gave some very personal advice.

Benedict XVI
"You’ll make many friends in school and that is beautiful, as it makes for a large family. But among the great friends, the first we find, whom we come to know, is Jesus, who is a friend of all who really shows us the path of life."

Some children gave gifts to the Pope. He was given balloons to personal letters, drawings to a painting made with plasticine.

Gifts that were much appreciated by the Pope who had always wanted to be a teacher.
