“Very often we talkabout Africa in a negative way, the commercials on television duringa catastrophe, there are negative things to point out and because ofthis we are trying to collect documentaries that give a professionalimage that is also positive, even though sometimes it is difficult tomake a little change in the attitude towards Africa.”
The first place award for audiovisual documentaries went to Yel Kabeye for his film “Women and Future in Ouagadougou.”
The second place award was given to the video-clip “Insight into Ghana: Living the colors of Africa” and “Africa-beyond the Silence.”
Harambee hopes these documentaries will shed light on many of the problems Africa faces that go largely unnoticed.
