During his salutation in French, Benedict XVI remembered the beatification of John Paul II. He called for the prayer and meditation on the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary, instituted by the late pope in 2002.

Benedict XVI also recalled the beatification of Mother Maria Clara of the Child Jesus and Sister Dulce Lopes Pontes, which took place over the weekend in Portugal and Brazil.
