Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. As a result, Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin has sent a message of condolences to the victims of the disaster on behalf of Pope Francis.

Pope approves new decrees for the Causes of Saints

Pope calls for Syria to stop violence and take on political reforms


The Pope calls on Syria to hear the cries of its people and also the pleas from international institutions. He calls on the country to not respond to the tension with “greater intolerance, discrimination and violence,” but rather with “absolute respect for truth, coexistence,and the legitimate rights of individuals and their communities.” Above all he calls for reconciliation.

Benedict XVI mentioned that “the unity and stability of any country is based on the right to human dignity.”

He also emphasized that Syria has been an example of tolerance and coexistence. Especially, in its relationship between Muslims and Christians.
