Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Pope names a Special Envoy for Medjugorje

< style> February 11, 2017. Pope Francis has asked Henryk Hoser, S.A.C., bishop of Warsaw-Prague (Poland), to go to Medjugorje as Special Envoy of the Holy See. According< g> the Vatican, "the mission has the aim of acquiring a deeper knowledge of the pastoral situation there and above all, of the needs of the faithful who go there in pilgrimage, and on the basis of this, to suggest possible pastoral initiatives for the future”.

Pope meets with families of piracy victims


"I pray for their families to be strong in faith and to not lose hope in meeting soon with their loved ones". 

After the Angelus, the Pope met privately with some of the familymembers of those who are being held captive by pirates.

Currently there are more than 800 hostages. Last year there was arecord high of 445 attacks, 53 ships were held hostage and 1181sailors were kidnapped.

Modern piracy has become so serious, the Pontifical Council for thePastoral Care of Migrants will hold a conference to analyze the issuein 2012.

In the Angelus, the Pope also talked about the feast of St. Benedict,patron saint of Europe. The Pope said that saint in particular, is agreat example of how one should listen to the Gospel.

"Wemust learn from the great patriarch of western monasticism to giveGod His rightful place-the first place. Offering prayer in themorning, afternoon and even in daily activities.”

Benedict XVI noted that all Christians must learn from this saint, bychoosing God above everything else.
