Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Pope tells Spanish priests that St. John of Avila will be declared a Doctor of the Church

2012-05-11

CARD. ANTONIO MARÍA ROUCO VARELA
Archbishop of Madrid
“... on the day we celebrate the feast of the patron of the Spanish clergy St. John of Avila. The news of his future declaration as a Doctor of the Church was made in the Cathedral of the Almudena at a Mass for seminarians during the last World Youth Day.”

Benedict XVI encouraged them to continue their studies in order to better serve the Church. He said to do this without forgetting that the center of their life should concentrate on their own encounters with the Lord. He also noted that the Spanish College has been forming priests since the late nineteenth century.

BENEDICT XVI
“Through your school, thousands of seminarians and priests have past through who have served the Church in Spain with profound love and fidelity to its mission. The specific training of priests is always a top priority of the Church.”

The Pope told them that they should follow the example of St. John of Avila to be holy priests, with an austere life and great affection for the Virgin Mary. He recalled that soon he will name this saint as a Doctor of the Church.
