Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Vatican newspaper launches monthly supplement on role of women

2012-06-01

GIOVANNI MARIA VIAN
Director, L'Osservatore Romano

"It's a monthly addition that's very well done and beautifully designed, but editors such as Giulia Gaelotti. Then there are the two collaborators that are in charge of this edition Ritanna Armeni and Lucetta Scaraffia, that each coordinate a team of people, for example in this issue we have a Discalced Carmelite who writes about a seventeenth-century piece of work that until now was known as a Jesuit and that seems to be written by a woman, it's an important work.”

RITANNA ARMENI
Supplement Coordinator "Woman, Church, World”

"We thought it would be a good idea in the official newspaper of the Holy See, L'Osservatore Romano,if there was a supplement at least once a month to give voice to this affluence, the value that women bring to the Church.”

GIULIA GAELOTTI
Culture Section, L'Osservatore Romano

"The dialogue between women and the Church is not new today. It's a dialogue that has been undervalued, that's why we've created this project, this monthly supplement to make this dialogue clear. This encounter is one that continues to enrich both women and the Church.”

This new section will contain some surprises. Each month, the artist Isabella Ducrot will release a piece of contemporary art along with a cartoon that has a nun as it's main character.

This initiative will give the newspaper a new feminine vision for the Vatican City State.
