Lombardi also said that these Sunday attacks by terrorist groups on places of worship has become “a particularly effective method for the dissemination of hatred and fear”.

These attacks occurred simultaneously at two different points in the city of Garissa, a town near the border with Somalia. Lombardi also noted it was “necessary to reaffirm and defend religious freedom of Christians and to oppose irresponsible acts that breed hatred among different religions”.

Since 2010 several countries in Africa, especially Nigeria and Kenya, have been affected by the terrorist attacks of Boko Haram against Christian churches.
