Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. As a result, Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin has sent a message of condolences to the victims of the disaster on behalf of Pope Francis.

The donations help to fund more than 4,000 different projects in 145 countries, the majority of these projects take place in Africa and the Middle East. 

Also, during the last World Youth Day in Madrid, Aid to the Church in Need supplied 700,000 copies of the New Youth Catechism, known as YOUCAT. 

The Foundation was originally created in 1947 by the Dutch priest Werenfried Van Straaten. It has worked for over 60 years to bring assistance to Christians throughout the world that face persecution.
