Pope's Angelus: Don't live a false religion that lacks love

2012-09-03

BENEDICT XVI
"In his letter, Apostle James warns about the danger of a false religion. He tells Christians: 'Be of those who practice the Word, not only those who hear it. You will only be deceiving yourselves'.”

The Pope then talked about the Commandments, and how they show points in common between Judaism and Christianity. He said the purpose of the Commandments are not to limit people, but to have them be closer to God.

If one doesn't truly understand religion, one runs the risk of turning away from it, and in the process, putting one's well being in material things.

BENEDICT XVI
"The  purpose of religion is to live life while listening to God. By doing His Will, one lives in true freedom. If this sense is lost, then religion is reduced to secondary activities, instead of satisfying the human need to have a good relationship with God.”

The Pope urged Christians and those of other religions, to put God at the center of their lives. Putting faith first, said the Pope, will help improve societies.
