The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

The government of the Order of Malta will elect the successor of the Grand Master in April

Pope names a Special Envoy for Medjugorje

Pope weighs in on Colombia's peace process with FARC rebels

"I hope that those who take part in this initiative will be guided by the will of forgiveness and reconciliation, while sincerely searching for the common good.”

Discussions for this peace process will begin on October 8 in Oslo, Norway. The goal is to end the guerrillas tactics of terrorism, extortion and kidnapping. 

Colombia's outgoing ambassador to the Vatican, says when it comes to this peace process, it's key to embrace 'truth' to full understand the complexity of the conflict.

"True peace is built on the basis of truth. The Holy Father has encouraged Colombians, and really all people, to further that peace process under the principle of truth. With that principle comes forgiveness and reconciliation because true forgiveness also means knowing and understanding the full truth.”

Some of the key negotiations points between the  government and FARC rebels include drug trafficking, rural development, land and the security of farming families.
