Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. Pope calls on Christians to pray the Rosary during The Year of Faith

“I invite everyone to pray for the work of the Synod of Bishops, which in the coming days will reflect on The New Evangelization for the Transmission of the Christian faith.”

The Pope then talked about the two new Doctors of the Church. St. John of Avila and St. Hildegard of Bingen.

“May their lives and works continue to be  guiding lights, in proclaiming the Kingdom of God. May they help us all to grow every day in an authentic life of faith.”

For the upcoming Year of Faith, which begins on October 11, Benedict XVI called on Christians to pray the rosary, as the official prayer of the Year of Faith.

“I would like to suggest to everyone to renew the prayer of the Rosary in the upcoming Year of Faith. With the Rosary, we allow ourselves to be guided by Mary, model of faith, in meditating on the mysteries of Christ.”

The Year of Faith will begin on October 11 which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council.
