“God can win the heart of a person who has many material things and move them towards solidarity and sharing with those in need, the poor, and to enter, that is, into the logic of gift”
Benedict XVI explained that many saints serve as examples because they were rich but knew how to offer what they had in order to serve God.
“Church history is full of examples of wealthy people, who have used their own goods for the Gospel, reaching even to the point of holiness. Just think of Saint Francis, St. Elizabeth of Hungary or St. Charles Borromeo”.
After praying the Angelus, Pope Benedict recalled that earlier on Sunday in Prague the beatification of Federic Bacstein and 13 martyred companions, took place as the first new blesseds in this Year of Faith.
