The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Pope: "Faith enables us to cooperate in building a truly humane society"

2012-10-17

BENEDICT XVI
"The Year of Faith invites us to renewed enthusiasm for the gift of our belief in Jesus Christ.  Jesus, the Son of God, and shows us the ultimate meaning of our human existence”.

One of the objectives of the Year of Faith is to develop a deeper understanding of Christian faith. The Pope focused on the Creed, the official prayer of this year.

BENEDICT XVI
"Faith transforms our lives, enabling us to know and love the God who created us, to live freely in accordance with his will, and to cooperate in building a truly humane and fraternal society.  Our catecheses will thus deal with the central truths of the faith as expressed in the words of the Apostles’ Creed”.

Addressing more than 20,000 people present in St Peter's Square, the Pope said that living faith transforms the heart and life of people.

BENEDICT XVI
"May the Year of Faith lead all believers to a fuller knowledge of the mystery of Christ and a deeper participation in the life of his Body, the Church!”

Before concluding the audience, the Pope greeted the "Movement for the dignity of the Fourth World”, gathered in Rome for the day of rejection of misery, promoted by the UN. He also greeted the participants at the general audience in Croatian, Arabic and Ukrainian.
