"In today’s Gospel, the poor widow gives everything she possesses to the Temple. May her unconditional offering inspire us to rely on God alone, while attributing to everything else its due place and proper worth.”
The Pope said that Sunday's Gospel explains how faith is linked to charity. Even though God expects a lot from the widows, he also protects those who have faith.
"Everyone, even the poor, can donate something. Both widows show their faith through a gesture of charity: one to the prophet, the other by offering alms. In doing so, they become a witness of the inseparable connection between faith and charity, between love for God and love for one's neighbor.”
Towards the end, the Pope emphasized that having faith in God leads to charity, regardless of one's wealth.
