Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. As a result, Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin has sent a message of condolences to the victims of the disaster on behalf of Pope Francis.

In his speech, the Pope asked who truly is Jesus, and cited the Gospel to find the a solution.

"The angel Gabriel announces: 'The Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God'.”

The pope also used that time to issue his New Year greeting, and explained that every Christmas, the strength of God's presence in history is celebrated.

After the audience, he once again sent out tweets on his eight accounts. The English one states: "When we entrust ourselves to the Lord completely, everything changes. We are children of a Father who loves us, and never leaves us.”
