2013-01-17

This becomes the Pope's ninth account on Twitter. Still, this latest account remains unused for the time being. It is likely the Pope will issue his first tweet in Latin during his next public appearance. As expected, everything published in this latest account will be in Latin, from his tweets, to his account description:

Tuus adventus in paginam publicam Summi Pontificis Benedicti XVI breviloquentis optatissimus est.

Up until now, the Pope has tweeted after every general audience on Wednesday, and the conclusion of the Angelus on Sunday.

More than one month since issuing his first tweet, Benedict XVI has over 2.5 million followers combined from his nine official Twitter accounts.
