February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. Pope issues tweet in support of March for Life

2013-01-25

The March for Life is an annual pro-life event that draws hundreds of thousands of people to Washington. It marks the anniversary on January 22, 1973 of the U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized the practice of abortion under some circumstances.

In 2012, nearly 400,000 people marched upon the Capitol demanding the Supreme Court decision be overturned to end the practice of abortion. Organizers expect record crowds for this year's 40 anniversary event.

It is the first time the Pope uses his Twitter account to express his support to a direct cause, as opposed to issuing statements on the Christian faith.
