Cardinal Wuerl, educator and passionate crusader

2013-02-22

It's at U.S. capital that the cardinal gets one of the biggest microphones to make an impact not just on his diocese, but throughout the country. Proof of that is the yearly March for Life, a decades old tradition backed by the Catholic Church in the defense of life.

CARD. DONALD WUERL
Archbishop of Washington, D.C. (United States)

January 20, 2012
"For years now, since the Roe vs. Wade decision that wiped away all of the protections for unborn human life, the Church has focused very clearly on the need to help our people and particularly our young people understand the value, the dignity, the worth of every single human life.”

When he's not leading liturgical services, or caring for college students, Cardinal Wuerl devotes his time to the written word. He constantly updates his personal blog to reflect on Catholic issues.

He has also published several books and articles. His two most recent works, published in January, include reflections on the truths of the Catholic faith, as well as a summary of the three-week Synod for the New Evangelization in October 2012.
