Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. As a result, Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin has sent a message of condolences to the victims of the disaster on behalf of Pope Francis.

Among the attendees will be the Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Prince Guillaume, the presidents of Slovakia and Bavaria, and Italian Health Minister Rannato Balduzzi. 


Others notable figures will include the cardinals already in Rome. Maria Voce from the Focolare Movement and Kiko Arguello, who started of the Neocathecumenal Way

When his last general audience ends, Benedict XVI will head to the Clementine Hall to meet with the president of the Slovak Republic, the captain regent of San Marino, the president of the Free State of Bavaria, and the co-prince of Andorra

It will be the last formal meeting with any civilian leaders or monarchs before his resignation goes into effect at 8 pm on February 28.
