CARD. PÉTER ERDÖ
Archbishop of Budapest (Hungary)
“I ask myself, who is the active subject for this new evangelization? We are convinced that the evangelizer above all else is Jesus Christ, the same for the Holy Spirit within our Church, then the whole Church and the Christians. Because to be Christian is an active mission, not just a life style.”
John Paul II created him cardinal in 2003. For many years he was the youngest among them. He also took part in the last conclave.
Benedict XVI sent him as his personal envoy to the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, whose teachings differ from the social doctrine of the Catholic Church.
