Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. As a result, Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin has sent a message of condolences to the victims of the disaster on behalf of Pope Francis.

Argentine journalists also took advantage. Father Javier, who worked with the Pope back home, gave him a hug.

"I showed him a picture of the sick baby of one of the journalists here. He asked me, 'what's her name?' I answered that I didn't know. 'I will pray for her,' he said. He took the photo and I'm sure he will pray a lot of that person.”

Polish journalist Ryszard Kapuscinski wrote that to be a journalist, above all, one has to be a good human being. Today the Pope distinguished between believers and non-believers, but thanked and blessed them the same for their efforts.
