“He asked us to bring the wooden image of the Virgin Mary from the old wooden stadium in San Lorenzo, an old picture of the stadium, and the new team shirt here. We were going to bring it, I am not sure if today, possibly tomorrow since today seems very difficult because of the ceremony.”
San Lorenzo’s soccer team was founded at the beginning of 20th Century in a poor neighborhood in Argentina. Priest Lorenzo Massa, was the team’s founder. His goal was to help the children use their time wisely doing sports, and in this way, keeping them away from other dangers. He called it San Lorenzo in honor of Saint Lawrence.
