The Israel Antiquities Authority launched the web page earlier this year, containing historical archives from the Holy Land preceding the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948, a period known as the British Mandate for Palestine.
Users can choose by location, where the documents were drafted or found, such Acre in the northern part of modern-day Israel, or in Jerusalem.
The items vary from government request for excavations, to maps of the Holy Land. It also features a number of administrative documents like Jerusalem city council notes.
The original documents are found at the Rockefeller Museum in Jerusalem. They were digitized using a special method that allowed the documents to be scanned and uploaded without damaging the sensitive materials.
