Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Pope to Biblical Commission: The center of our faith isn't just the Bible, it's Jesus Christ

2013-04-12

The Pope talked about the irreplaceable role of the Scriptures, adding that the word of God precedes the Bible and even surpasses it.

POPE FRANCIS
"That is why the center of our faith isn't just a book, but a history of Salvation, and above all, it's about a person: Jesus Christ, the Word of God made flesh.”

This year, the theme of the Commission's assembly was 'Inspiration and Truth in the Bible.' The Pope said the theme itself affects both believers and non-believers.

POPE FRANCIS
"For the life and mission of the Church, are founded on the Word of God, which is the soul of theology as well as the inspiration of every Christian existence.”

When it comes to actually interpreting the Bible, the Pope explained that the Sacred Scripture is the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit. Whereas, Sacred Tradition, is entrusted to the Apostles and their successors, by God, so it can be preserved for generations.

POPE FRANCIS
"The interpretation of Sacred Scriptures cannot be just an individual academic effort, but must always be compared to, inserted within, and authenticated by the living tradition of the Church.”

The Pope also highlighted that the Second Vatican Council, stated this quite clearly in the 'Dei Verbum' dogmatic constitution.
