Vatican says Pope unlikely to visit any other countries in 2013


The announcement came the same day the Pope met with bishops from Latin America. Many of the region's leaders that attended his Inaugural Mass had hoped, and had invited, the Pope to visit their countries. But the Vatican's announcement made it clear that will not happen, at least not this year.

During Palm Sunday Mass, Pope Francis confirmed he would be traveling to Rio de Janeiro for World Youth Day, which takes place from July 23 to 28. So far, details on his trip are few, though the Vatican confirmed he will be participating in all the major events, including the welcome ceremony, the Way of the Cross, and the closing Mass.
