Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Traveling with a group of 1,000? Brazilian employees have it covered

2013-05-08

They all work for an oil company and as a company gift, more than 1,000 employees were sent to Rome. The group made it a point to see the Pope in person.

EDOARDO
"It's very exciting because the Pope is from South America. He may not be Brazilian, but still he's from South America and we're enjoying that very much.”

Coming with a big group does have its logistical challenges. Traveling with 1,000 people isn't easy. To make things a bit easier, these people are in charge of logistics. Everything from medical emergencies, to making sure no one in the group gets lost. That's precisely where the yellow clothing, big umbrellas and even radios come into play.

EDOARDO
"Some in the group are not accustomed to traveling. So 30 of us, are equipped with radios and communication gear. That way if we have to respond to something, we can.”

The Pope has been quite vocal when it comes to protecting the environment. Employees of this oil company said the message has especially resonated with them, since Brazil has one of the richest eco-systems in the world.

ADI TONOLLI
Brazilian Pilgrim
"Yes, in our line of work, you always have to be mindful of the environment. We are always looking for solutions and we are always open to environmental progress.”

Even though the Pope will visit their country at the end of July, the group says seeing the Pope directly in person, made their Roman Holiday complete.
