"Cardinal Filoni has another job besides this. He is a professor. He actually teaches me about the Church. Yes, that's right. He comes to me and tells me 'this diocese is like this, and this other diocese is like that.' I get to understand the Church a lot more thanks to his lectures. Plus, I don't pay for the lectures, he gives them to me for free.”
The Pope thanked the Congregation for all the work it does in different parts of the world. He also highlighted that missionary work is still very relevant and it holds a special place in his heart.
"I would like to say that I have a heartfelt appreciation for the work you do, because you keep evangelization alive. It's a perfect example of what the Church should do.”
Pope Francis also invited the directors to uphold a request Pope Paul VI made 50 years ago, which is to protect their missionary work and its final goal of proclaiming the Gospel to those who need it most.
