2013-06-24

POPE FRANCIS
"Don't be afraid to go against the flow. When they try to take our hope away, when they promote those values that are flawd. It's like letting food go bad. If we eat spoiled food, it harms us. Just the same, those values hurt us. We should stand up against them! The youth, should be the first to do so. Go against this norm. Have the strength. Go on! Be brave and fight against this. Be proud of doing so.”

He went on to explain that there are different types of every day martyrs, who defend values, even if they are socially unpopular. He said, parents sacrifice their lives for their children, or youths who volunteer to help children, the sick and elderly. Among the group, he said priests and religious also dedicate their lives to helping those in need. The Feast Day of John the Baptist is celebrated on June 24th.
