Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Kiko Argüello draws 50,000 young people in Rio for vocational gathering

2013-07-31

The numbers far exceeded  expectation and thousands of young people were forced to watch the gathering  like this: before giant screens. More than 50,000 people met in Rio for a  vocational gathering organized by the Neocathecumenal Way,  which for many years now is held right after WYD.

Speaking to youths from more than 70 countries, Kiko Argüello reminded them that they cannot live just for themselves. In fact, he made a very direct request.

"I will now ask young people to go to Asia.”

Kiko Argüello added that China needs 20,000 priests and that vocations are lacking in Europe and the rest of the world. One of the gathering's most crucial moments followed.

"If a young person feels that God is calling him, stand up and come here.”

This was their response, young men running towards the stage. Nearly 3,000 people stood. The archbishop of Rio, Orani Tempesta, then gave them his blessing.

Then it was the women's turn. Argüello asked who in the group felt a calling to live a consecrated life or to volunteer in carrying out the new evangelization, nearly 2,000 of them stood up.
