Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. As a result, Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin has sent a message of condolences to the victims of the disaster on behalf of Pope Francis.

Most recent attacks against Christians in Nigeria, still under investigation

Investigations are still underway, in the Nigerian city of Kano, where recently at least53 people where killed, in what seems to be targeted attacks against Christians. 

The archbishop of Lagos, Alfred Adewale Martins, condemned Sunday attacks, which are attributed to Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram.

The Vatican has been very outspoken in denouncing these type of attacks. In fact during his first Urbi et Orbi prayer, Pope Francis directly addressed it.

At least one of the explosions was set off at a Pentecostal church, as Sunday worship was underway.
