Holy See confirms investigation of Order of Malta

Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. As a result, Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin has sent a message of condolences to the victims of the disaster on behalf of Pope Francis.

Pope Francis to meet with Palestinian president on Saturday

Pope to Thailand's Prime Minister: “Please, pray for me”


Pope Francis and Thailands Prime Minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, met at the Vatican. During their meeting they talked about the relationship between the Asian state and the Church, stressing that working together has proved extremely successful when it comes to the countrys education and social assistance programs.  

The Thai Prime Minister gave the Pope a set of fine-jewelled candle holders. Pope Francis gave her a pen that resembles the design of St. Peter's  altar columns. 

As they said farewell, the Pope said a few words in English, asking the prime minister for a favor. 

"Please, pray for me. God to bless you.”

After the meeting, the Thai delegation met with the Vatican's Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone.
