Pope meets with the poor inside room where St. Francis stripped himself of his possessions


In the same place that St. Francis of Assisi stripped himself of his clothing, to symbolize a life in poverty, Pope Francis met with townspeople from Assisi helped by Caritas.The Pope spent a few minutes greeting families, immigrants and children.   

He called on Catholics to "strip themselves of worldliness and vanity... otherwise, we will become confectionery Christians,” he explained. 

Pope Francis is the first Pope to visit the symbolic hall in over 800 years.
