Rain dampens Pope's ride through crowd before General Audience


The skies opened up, unleashing a steady trickle of rain as Pope Francis made his way around the crowd at St. Peters Square.   

Though many of the pilgrims came prepared with umbrellas and rain coats, Pope Francis rode around his uncovered Popemobile, bearing the rain as the greeted each person. 

The weather seemed to have no effect on him as he made his way around, always smiling and waving. 

Before the start of the general audience he complemented the pilgrims at St. Peters square for being brave and attending, despite the weather.
