Vatican launches new website for the Protection of Minors from sex abuse

From Pope to firefighter? Trying on new hats before the audience


Before the start of the General Audience, we're used to seeing the Pope kissing babies, or trying on new papal hats. If the hat fits, he keeps the new one and gives the old one to the pilgrims. But during this Wednesdays General Audience, the Pope tried on a hat that stood apart from others.   

As he approached a group of Italian firefighters, he was quick to try on one of their helmets. The firefighters cheered, while the Pope showed off the helmet with a smile. 

He eventually returned the helmet, and then greeted each one with a handshake.
