The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Pope Francis to Vatican TV: 'Thank you for your patience'

2013-10-29

October 29, 2013 (Romereports.com) The Pope's schedule is often packed with audiences, liturgical ceremonies and meetings. Even his summer vacation was brief. And that meant more work for the folks at the Vatican Television Center, the people responsible for broadcasting images of the Pope to world.

They attend and record all of his events, which means they must adapt to his working style. For that reason, Pope Francis thanked them. But also excused himself for all the extra work

POPE FRANCIS
"They live according to the Pope's schedule. It's no small sacrifice, I imagine. For that I am not only grateful, but I also pray for you all. In particular for your children. The Pope does not want to stand in your family life. But I thank you for your patience."

Pope Francis went on to say that they must transmit "the perfume and hope of the Gospel” to viewers. They must be at the service of the Church, from filming to editorial decisions.

POPE FRANCIS
"Play as a team. The effectiveness of the pastoral of communication is possible when bonds are created, by making a group of people converge around shared projects, in a 'unity of planning and resources."

The audience with the Pope marked the 30th anniversary of the Vatican Television Center. Families of the employees were also in attendance, and they were able to greet Pope Francis.
