Pope sends condolences for victims of Turkish cargo jet crash

January 16, 2017. On Monday morning, a Turkish cargo plane has tragically crashed in Kyrgyzstan, killing dozens and hospitalizing many others. Many homes and vehicles in the small village are also destroyed. As a result, Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin has sent a message of condolences to the victims of the disaster on behalf of Pope Francis.

Pope Francis gives final farewell to late Cardinal Domenico Bertolucci

The funeral of late Cardinal Domenico Bertolucci was held on Wednesday afternoon in the Vatican Basilica. Cardinal Angelo Sodano, who serves as the Dean of the College of Cardinals, celebrated the Mass, which was attended by several Cardinals and Bishops.  The Sistine Chapel Choir, which Bertolucci directed for many years, sang during the celebration.

Afterward, Pope Francis presided over the rite of the Last 'Commendatio' and of the 'Valedictio.'

Cardinal Bertolucci died on November 11th at the age of 96. He was a music composer who was made a Cardinal by Benedict XVI, back on November 20th, 2010.
