Pope Francis: No people is criminal and no religion is terrorist

February 17, 2017. Pope Francis has sent an important message to the Meetings of Popular Movements that is taking place in Modesto (California). The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Bavarian and Neapolitan flavors come together for Christmas 2013 at the Vatican

2013-11-29

Workers at the Vatican will begin preparations on Monday for the arrival of the traditional Christmas tree and Nativity Scene, displayed each year at St. Peter's Square. For 2013, the Vatican celebrations will have Bavarian and Neapolitan influences.

Benedict XVI's homeland of Bavaria will provide the fir tree, measuring nearly 100 feet-tall. According to the Vatican, the tree will arrive at St. Peter's Square on December 6. On Monday, workers will start building the giant stand that will hold the tree upright.

Meanwhile, the Italian Archdiocese of Naples is set to donate this year's Nativity scene, which will stand next to the Christmas tree. The city of Naples is well-known for their Nativity sets, often regarded as some of the best in Italy.

Last year, both the tree and the Nativity scene were donated by small regions in southern Italy.
