Pope approves new decrees for the Causes of Saints

December 22, 2016. On Wednesday, December 21, Pope Francis authorized the following decrees for the Causes of Saints:

The Pope welcomed a special group of guests at the Vatican on Saturday. He met with 30 Polish children with cancer.

"Just like your predecessor, Blessed John Paul II, these children come from a far away country.”

In fact, some of the children held an image of the late Polish Pope. Others prepared gifts for Pope Francis. Visibly moved, he thanked the young group for its prayers.

POPE FRANCIS
"Thank you for praying for the Church. Through your suffering, your inexplicable suffering, you do much good for the Church. God understands everything and your prayers help. Thank you very much. It would be a pleasure to greet every one of you individually.”

And that he did. One by one, the Pope kissed, hugged and blessed the children. One of the young patients, gave the Pope a drawing of St. Francis of Assisi, and another of Our Lady of Lourdes. The meeting was full of memorable and moving moments, even towards the end, when Pope Francis was surprised by a professional photographer.
