Pope Francis has approved a new commission to protect children from sex abuse and also to help victims. The announcement was made by American Archbishop, Cardinal Sean O'Malley, during a Thursday morning Vatican press conference.
The announcement comes as the Pope's advisory council, also known as the G8, holds its second round of meetings with Pope Francis. The group was created to advise the Pope on ways to reform the Curia and the governance of the Church.
As the idea moves forward, Pope Francis is expected to sign a document to officially instill the commission and its works.
