The pope denounces the "moral blindness of this indifference”: "under the guise of what is politically correct or ideologically fashionable, one looks at those who suffer without touching them. But they are televised live; they are talked about in euphemisms and with apparent tolerance, but nothing is done systematically to heal the social wounds or to confront the structures that leave so many brothers and sisters by the wayside”.

Pope names a Special Envoy for Medjugorje

According< g> the Vatican, "the mission has the aim of acquiring a deeper knowledge of the pastoral situation there and above all, of the needs of the faithful who go there in pilgrimage, and on the basis of this, to suggest possible pastoral initiatives for the future”.

Pope attends first Advent Sermon: Christmas, St. Francis and reform of the Church

(-VIDEO ONLY-) Pope Francis attended the first Advent Sermon on Friday morning, at the Redemptoris Mater Chapel. Franciscan friar, and Apostolic Preacher, Raniero Cantalamessa reflected on the contributions the life and message of St. Francis can bring to the Church, especially during Christmas.

The title of his Sermon was "Toward the Lord's Nativity in the Company of St. Francis of Assisi.

Cantalamessa said that reform of the Church must be done by way of holiness. He also highlighted the importance of humility, in the way that St. Francis of Assisi lived since his conversion, devoting himself completely to serving Jesus.
