McKinsey and KPMG hired to assess Vatican communications and accounting

2013-12-19

The Vatican hired  two international firms to assess their communications and accounting procedures.

American consulting firm McKinsey & Company will analyze and propose a re-organization of the Vatican's newspaper, television and radio station to make them "more functional, efficient and modern.”

Meanwhile, Netherlands-based KPMG will work with the Vatican to "align the accounting procedures of all agencies of the Holy See with international standards." As of now, there are four international firms tasked with economic and administrative changes to the Vatican. In October, they hired the Promontory Financial Group to investigate the APSA, the Vatican department overseeing its real estate holdings, stocks, and human resources.

And in November, they chose Ernst & Young to analyze the Governorate, which is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Vatican City-State, including it's profitable post office and the Vatican Museums.
